Life-changing book!!!! But only if you’re ready…。I was ready for this book。 Five years ago, it wouldn’t have had the same impact on me。 But because of where I am and all the awakenings I’ve had in my life the past few years, this is timely。 The premise is that we overthink (we do!) and keep ourselves stuck in these manic patterns of thinking。 I’m tired of it, are you?? You never regret reading a book。 I usually give all books five stars。 I wasn't able to give this book five stars but I don't want to be too negative about it。 The fact that it was short made it more bearable。 I have been able to get back on track in my quest to read 26 books in 52 weeks in 2023。 I guess a lot of useful things are said in the book。 I took this book up only because someone I know was reading it。 I will not regret that I read this book。 I will not tell anyone to not read this book。 You never regret reading a book。 I usually give all books five stars。 I wasn't able to give this book five stars but I don't want to be too negative about it。 The fact that it was short made it more bearable。 I have been able to get back on track in my quest to read 26 books in 52 weeks in 2023。 I guess a lot of useful things are said in the book。 I took this book up only because someone I know was reading it。 I will not regret that I read this book。 I will not tell anyone to not read this book。 I might even read this book again if I have nothing else to do or if someone comes to me and says that they loved this book and they think that I should read this book again and change my rating to five stars。 This is not a bad book but I couldn't give it five stars however hard I tried。 I should look for a few more short books like this so that I can read 26 books in 2023。 。。。more

excellent bookI really enjoyed this book。 In the beginning, Joseph promised that if you begin this book with an open heart and mind, the insights the book will lead to will change your life。 I firmly believe that I am a different person after reading this。 I have work to do to embody the new me, but I am excited and grateful for the work to be done。

I would give it a 3。5。 Great book for beginners and I like the summary of steps to take towards the end of book。 There’s Buddhist teachings sprinkled here and there and I find it hard to understand some concepts。

This book built up quite well initially and I got into underlining a lot of stuffs and making notes by the side but in due course the ideas started to repeat themselves and philosophy became too preachy。 That’s where the disconnect started。 All in all a good book with lots of great ideas on doing root cause analysis of sufferings and how it all connects back to thinking。 It also touches upon what I totally believe in, that the human mind has infinite potential and given a chance, it blooms。 If o This book built up quite well initially and I got into underlining a lot of stuffs and making notes by the side but in due course the ideas started to repeat themselves and philosophy became too preachy。 That’s where the disconnect started。 All in all a good book with lots of great ideas on doing root cause analysis of sufferings and how it all connects back to thinking。 It also touches upon what I totally believe in, that the human mind has infinite potential and given a chance, it blooms。 If only it was more backed by science than beliefs。 Recommended as a short self development read。 。。。more

It wasn't the greatest of books but it was an epiphany when I learned the difference between thoughts and thinking。 Here are some of the thought-provoking quotes from the book:We cannot change what we are not aware of, and once we are aware, we cannot help but change。 People have a hard time letting go of their suffering。 Out of a fear of the unknown, they prefer suffering that is familiar。 One who looks around them is intelligent, one who looks within them is alive。Reality is that the event hap It wasn't the greatest of books but it was an epiphany when I learned the difference between thoughts and thinking。 Here are some of the thought-provoking quotes from the book:We cannot change what we are not aware of, and once we are aware, we cannot help but change。 People have a hard time letting go of their suffering。 Out of a fear of the unknown, they prefer suffering that is familiar。 One who looks around them is intelligent, one who looks within them is alive。Reality is that the event happened, with no meaning, thinking, or interpretation of it。 I think and think and think, I've thought myself out of happiness one million times, but never once into it。Our mind's duty is to keep us alive。 Our conciousness's duty is to help us feel fulfilled。 Your soul is the reason why you're even on this journey in the first place—to find peace, love, and joy for yourself。If we keep using our minds, we will constantly stay in a state of fight or flight, anxiety, fear, frustration, depression, anger, resentment, and all negative emotions because the mind thinks everything is a threat to our very existence。 Stop thinking and end your problems。It's important to know that thoughts are a noun and aren't something that we do, but something we have。 The source of thoughts comes from something that is beyond our minds。 Thinking on the other hand, is the act of thinking about our thoughts。 This takes a significant amount of energy, effort, and willpower。 Thinking is actively engaging with the thoughts in your mind。 You don't have to engage with each thought in your mind, but when you do, that is thinking。 We are every only one thought away from peace, love, and joy—which come from a state of no thought。These negative emotions are only helpful to us in terms of survival, but if we don't constantly encounter life or death situations, negative emotions are more unhelpful for most of us。Imagine our mind has a speedometer, but instead of miles per hour, it is thoughts per minute。 The more thinking we have going on, the higher the "thought-o-meter" goes, and if we have enough thinking going on, it'll go into the red zone。 This is when we feel extremely stressed, burned out, frustrated, and angry。 It's not what we are thinking about that is causing us suffering, but that we are thinking。 The less thinking we have, the more space we create for positive emotions to naturally surface。If the only thing people learned was not to be afraid of their experience, that alone would change the world。 Human experience is created by three principles: Universal Mind, Consciousness, and Thought。A crowded mind leaves no space for a peaceful heart。 There are two sources of goals: goals created out of inspiration and goals created out of desperation。 We are not creating so that we can feel whole, but we are creating because we feel whole and want to give from that place, not expecting anything from it。 No one wants money just to have money。 Most people want money for something else or to be able to use it for another thing they want。When we create something for something else, typically we do not enjoy the process of creating, because it is always just a means to an end, never an end in itself。External things can prompt us to create feelings, but ultimately it is us that produces those feelings from within ourselves。 There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so。 True truth is not subjective。The intuitive mind is a sacred gift, and the rational mind is a faithful servant。 We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift。Society will almost never confirm our intuition until it's mainstream already。Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition。 They somehow already know what you truly want to become。 Everything else is secondary。 - Steve JobsThe only time we can really be in a state of non-thinking is in the present moment。 We can only see reality in the present moment and when we are actively thinking, it means we are either in the past or future (which doesn't exist)。 Today I make space for miracles。 I recognize that it's not how big a miracle is that's important but how much room I create for it。 We can't solve problems by using the same level of consciousness we were at when we created them  。。。more

In "Don't Believe Everything You Think," author Joseph Nguyen explores the idea that our thinking is the root cause of all suffering。 The book is a reflection of Nguyen's own journey of self-improvement and his attempts to overcome his own struggles with anxiety, fear, and unfulfillment。 He shares his personal experiences and insights in order to help readers understand how their own thinking may be contributing to their negative emotions。One of the key concepts in the book is that our interpret In "Don't Believe Everything You Think," author Joseph Nguyen explores the idea that our thinking is the root cause of all suffering。 The book is a reflection of Nguyen's own journey of self-improvement and his attempts to overcome his own struggles with anxiety, fear, and unfulfillment。 He shares his personal experiences and insights in order to help readers understand how their own thinking may be contributing to their negative emotions。One of the key concepts in the book is that our interpretation of events is what causes us to feel good or bad about something, rather than the events themselves。 Nguyen argues that this is how people in third-world countries can be happier than people in first-world countries and how people in first-world countries can be more miserable than people in third-world countries。 He acknowledges that everyone has their own unique circumstances, but ultimately it's how we interpret those circumstances that determine our level of happiness。Nguyen also explores the idea of unconditional love, using his own relationship with his wife as an example。 He realized that if he created reasons for why he loved her, then his love for her would be conditional on those specific traits or actions。 He came to understand that his wife had no reasons for why she loved him, because if she did, it would mean she only loved him if he were exuding those traits or doing those things she had in her mind。 He learned that true love is unconditional, without reasons or conditions。 The book offers a guide on how to stop thinking and overcome negative emotions。 Nguyen provides a framework for removing thinking triggers, potential obstacles, and practical steps to overcome them。 He also shares his own personal experiences and insights on how to let go of negative thoughts and return to a natural state of peace, love, and joy。While I may not agree with all of the ideas presented in the book, it is still a helpful read for those seeking to improve their mental and emotional well-being。 I rate this book 3。5 out of 5。 。。。more

When someone shares their worries or botheration, we complacently point at thetemple and say, It is all in here; and shrug off。 Well, most things are, and we perplexthem further in our cerebrum。How often have you broken your head over a situation thinking of a thousand possibilities only to encounter a thousand and oneth case? Still, we never gave up overthinking。 Whether we agree or not, we are all overthinkers of different magnitudes。This book explains overthinking, which is the root cause of When someone shares their worries or botheration, we complacently point at thetemple and say, It is all in here; and shrug off。 Well, most things are, and we perplexthem further in our cerebrum。How often have you broken your head over a situation thinking of a thousand possibilities only to encounter a thousand and oneth case? Still, we never gave up overthinking。 Whether we agree or not, we are all overthinkers of different magnitudes。This book explains overthinking, which is the root cause of all the emotional suffering in the simplest way possible and also points out how it complicates our otherwise simpler life。The documentation by author Joseph Nguyen is easy to comply with and morestraightforward to construe。 There is a systematic presentation of addressing ourendless ifs and buts。 It rekindles your cognizance and helps you be at peace。 Chapter on unconditional love needs a special mention and is my personal favourite。 Practical guidelines in the last few pages are quite handy。 The author doesn’t stress that thinking is wrong。 Only those thoughts availed by futureanticipations and past rues are catastrophic for our being。 Not every thought arises from a safer place, a few gets nurtured by our insecurities, vulnerabilities and self-doubt。 We consciously need to heed。 We, humans who live in a community, can’t continue to do so without thinking。 But have we been overdoing it that it jeopardizes our mental harmony? The author also hints at the solutions to face our uninvited unorganized thoughts, for which I would ask you to run through the pages。Here I am a little disinclined to point out the flaws of a well-meaned book, but then Ihave to。 A Message which could have fit into a few pages has been overdone into a hundred-plus-page book, and there are a few deficits in the scientific approach to writing, which can’t go unnoticed。Although pain is inevitable, suffering is optional。 Remember, You get to chose how to channel your own thoughts。 。。。more
